Classy Wedding at Colstoun House, Haddington

I’ve known Sara & Cameron for a few year now as I got to know them when I photographed Sara’s brothers wedding a couple years ago. It was great to be asked back into the family circle to be a part of this amazing day! The Morning started off in Typical fashion with all the girls getting hair and make up done with a few glasses of bubbly thrown into the mix. The guys were in a cottage just down the driveway from the main house. For an Edinburgh wedding photographer, jumping out of the city and heading out to the private surroundings of Colstoun House in East Lothian is a real treat. Weddings at Colstoun House are always brilliant as you get exclusive use of the wedding venue, which creates a very personal and private celebration.

I always love when I get to shoot an outdoor ceremony as they can be quite rare in Scotland. The light was absolutely stunning but I knew it would get even better as the day went on so I decided to take Sara and Cameron away for their creative portrait session later that evening. The ceremony was touching and beautiful with readings and a gorgeous song by a bridesmaid accompanied by father of the bride on the guitar.

The story behind the infamous ‘Car Shot’ is one of imagination and backlighting! I acquired the best man to reverse the car for me at full speed to stop abruptly and pick up lots of dust. I then asked Sara and Cameron to jump in front of the car with the headlights on full beam and dance. What a laugh we had! We took a good few takes to get the shots but it was worth the 10 minutes and a filthy dress to get them!

Such an amazing, luxury wedding at Colstoun House and a joy to be a part of.
