Maggie and Dimitris are a great couple and were extremely easy going on their big day. I’m sure the sun engulfed surroundings, beautiful coastline and fantastic food on this rural Greek island paradise, had a part to play also! When you get married in Greece, the one thing you can be sure of is that beautiful light. Wedding photographers in Greece are spoiled!

I flew over from Edinburgh a few days before the wedding, so I could scout the location of the wedding events and catch up with M & D. We had an amazing time getting to know eachother better and enjoyed a few beautiful meals… and drinks of course! I had already met Maggie a few years before when I shot her best friends wedding in Paxi. It was so good to spend more time together and see lots of other familiar faces on the wedding day.

Weddings on Greek islands usually kick off later in the day, with ceremonies usually between 6pm and 7pm because it would be just too hot to have it any earlier. It also gives the couple and their wedding guests time to chill before the ceremony. We all spent time by the pool and enjoyed a few cocktails before getting all dressed up, it’s a nice change from UK weddings where the morning goes 100 mph.

Maggie was escorted by her girls and musicians to the church, which was built into the side of the cliff face, had the most incredible views of the Tinos. I always love Greek weddings and how the groom waits on his bride with the bouquet of flowers as they are often very emotional moments. The ceremony was beautiful and I had just a little time after sunset to get the newly married couple onto the rooftops for some portraits before heading down to the beach bar! As mentioned before, weddings start later in Greece but they finish late (or should I say early!) I was shooting right through until the sun came up the next morning. We had such an amazing time partying away until the early hours, knocking back shots, dancing on tables and singing until our voices gave up. What a night and what an amazing wedding.
