As a destination wedding photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland, I have worked with clients all over the world. I’ve traveled a lot of distance to shoot weddings in places like New York and Africa but shooting this wedding in New Zealand is about as far as I’ll probably ever travel for a wedding. It took a good 35 hours to get there but I was travelling with Singapore Airlines, so it was a comfy journey!

Hayley and Iain thought about having an Edinburgh wedding, but the thought of a gorgeous spring wedding in Nelson, New Zealand was way too tempting. What a great idea to escape the cold autumn temperatures of Scotland and get married in a beautiful orchard on the other side of the world. My kind of couple!

Wedding photographers in New Zealand must love shooting here. I know I did! The scenery is unbelievable and the light is just gorgeous, even if a little harsh as there’s literally no ozone layer above them!

After beautiful morning preparations at Hayley’s family home we whisked up to Brambleby Orchard in Upper Moutere for a stunning outdoor ceremony. A New Zealand wedding with Scottish touches in the way of kilts and even a bagpiper to pull on the heart strings of the travelling guests!

I took the couple down to Mapua for some lovely photos by the water before heading back up to the Orchard for a meal. It was during this meal that one of the locals (a skydiving pilot) booked me in for a skydive at 10am the very next morning! yep, and I even did it! This destination wedding in New Zealand sure turned out to be one of the best adventures I’ve ever been on!

This was a beautiful destination wedding and an honour to be a part of!
